GSEIWI RSS Feeds
Tired of going to our Web site to find out what has been recently added? Now you can stay better informed by retrieving the latest contact.
What is RSS?
RSS (Rich Site Summary) is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Many news-related sites, weblogs and other online publishers syndicate their content as an RSS Feed to whoever wants it.
Why RSS? Benefits and Reasons for using RSS
RSS solves a problem for people who regularly use the web. It allows you to easily stay informed by retrieving the latest content from the sites you are interested in. You save time by not needing to visit each site individually. The number of sites offering RSS feeds is growing rapidly and includes big names like Yahoo News or GSEIWI.
How can I use RSS?
If you do not use Microsoft Internet Explorer 7, News Aggregators (also called news readers) will download and display RSS feeds for you. A number of free and commercial News Aggregators are available. Many aggregators are separate, "stand-alone" programs (such as FeedReader and FeedDemon); other services will let you add RSS feeds to a Web page (such as Google/reader My Yahoo! and Bloglines). Common Craft has a terrific video explaining RSS and how to use it.
Now, Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 has an even eaiser option. (free download at microsoft.com) When you are on a Web site that has RSS feeds, all you need to do to subscribe to them is click on the RSS icon. This icon will turn orange in color if it is an option (located on your command bar, in right top corner). Just click the RSS icon, and whala! You are signed up to receive the Web sites feeds. GSEIWI currently has one feed: web updates. This will inform you each time the Web site is updated and what the update is. To view your RSS feeds, click on the "star" icon (located in the left top corner of Internet Explorer), then click on "feeds," this will list all your RSS feeds while keeping them all in one location and easily accessable.
Redistributing our feeds via Web sites
If you run your own website, you can use RSS feeds to display the latest headlines from other websites on your site.
