New Girl Scout Leadership Experience

Girls can join Girl Scouts at different age levels:

  • Daisy Girl Scouts, grades K-1
  • Brownie Girl Scouts, grades 1-3
  • Junior Girl Scouts, grades 4-6
  • Girls in grades 6-12 experience Girl Scouting through STUDIO 2B
  • Juliette Girl Scouts, grades 1-12 - non-troop affiliated
Girls are able to participate in Girl Scouting through a variety of ways, including joining a troop or group, attending a neighborhood activity center or summer camp, or participating as an individual known as Juliette Girl Scouts.

Each troop raises its own funds for the activities it plans through troop dues, money-earning activities, and the product sales programs. Girl Scouts may also choose to purchase uniforms, insignia, and books to enhance their Girl Scouting experience. Shop Here!

Adults 18 years of age or older can join Girl Scouts to speak at a Girl Scout event, volunteer in a troop or group, offer services at the council level, reconnect as an alumnae, or simply say "I believe in the Girl Scout mission and want to show my support by becoming a member."

All girl and adult members:
  • Share the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
  • Follow safety guidelines.
  • Pay the annual membership fee of $10, renewable each October 1. Grants are available. Lifetime membership dues are currently $250.
  • Membership for Girls (fill-in form, then print)

Who are Juliette Girl Scouts?

Different Way to Participate--Juliettes are individually registered Girl Scouts.

Although registering girls outside a troop or group is nothing new to the Girl Scouts, the organization is now searching for new ways to actively involve girls registered individually.

Why do girls register as individuals and not as member of troops or groups?

The reasons are many. Though the Juliettes designation is available to all age levels it's especially popular among Girl Scouts 11-17 who love the program but are very busy with other activities. Besides time constraints, other reasons a girl might prefer individual participation is that she lives in a rural or isolated area or she may have difficulty coordinating with other girls' or adults schedules.
