2010 Cookie Sale Program

This Cookie Season, Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois will be inspiring change. They will discover what matters most, connecting with people in their communities and using the power of Girl Scout Cookies to take action and make the world a better place! The Cookie Sale Program is a great way to learn many new skills, earn troop funds and earn individual Cookie Program Credit to pay for Girl Scout resident and day camps or other programs and events sponsored by GSEIWI. Girls also earn a wide range of recognition items for participating. WHAT CAN A COOKIE DO?




What's New for 2010

  • A new theme--”Leap 2 Lead, Be the Change” and a new mascot--the tree frog.
  • An expanded recognition line, including:
    • A new recognition at the 50 package level.
    • A drawing for 1 of 40 iPod speaker cases for girls selling 150 or more packages during the initial order taking period.
    • A drawing for an iPod Touch Prize Package for girls selling 180 or more packages during the initial order taking period.
    • A Capri College Bonus Program for Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors selling 50 or more packages during the initial order taking period.
  • Guidelines for online marketing for product sales activities.
  • Snap -- a new online system for placing orders and tracking payments.

  • December - January 15: Troop level training and Cookie Rallies
  • January 15 - January 31: Girls take orders
  • February 2 - Troop order due online (11:00 p.m. CST)
  • February 22 - February 27: Delivery to Service Units
  • March 21 - End of recognition earning period

Cookie Program Credit & Camp Credit

In addition to the recognition items, girls will receive Cookie Program Credit and Camp Credit:

  • Cookie Program Credit: Girls receive $5 in Cookie Program Credit (CPC) for every 25 packages of cookies sold through March 21, 2010.
    • 25-49 packages sold = $5 CPC
    • 50-74 packages sold = $10 CPC
    • 75-99 packages sold = $15 CPC
    • 100-124 packages sold = $20 CPC
    • 125-149 packages sold = $25 CPC
    • 150-174 packages sold = $30 CPC
    • 175-199 packages sold = $35 CPC
    • 200-224 packages sold = $40 CPC, and so on.
  • Camp Credit: Girls receive Camp Credit according to the final number of packages sold b y March 21, 2010. Camp Credit is NOT cumulative.
    • 500-749 packages sold = $100 Camp Credit
    • 750-999 packages sold = $200 Camp Credit
    • 1,000-1,499 packages sold = $300 Camp Credit
    • 1,500-1,999 packages sold = $400 Camp Credit
    • 2,000+ packages sold = $500 Camp Credit

Cookie Program Credit and Camp Credit can be applied to fees for Girl Scout resident or day camp and council-sponsored events and purchases made at the Girl Scout Shops or camp Trading Posts. Cookie Program Credit and Camp Credit may NOT be redeemed for cash or used as a deposit for any camp programs. Cookie Program Credit and Camp Credit are not transferable, except to a sister. These certificates will expire September 20, 2011--NO exceptions.


Girl Scout Cookie Awards

Girls can earn official Girl Scout awards by participating in the Girl Scout Cookie Sale Program:

  1. Grade-Level Awards: Requirements can be found in the corresponding grade-level award books.
    • Girl Scout Brownies can earn the Cookies Count and Smart Cookie Try-Its.
    • Girl Scout Juniors can earn the Cookie Biz and the Cookie Connections Badges.
    • Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors can earn the Cookies & Dough Interest Project or the Cookies and More charm.
  2. Girl Scout Cookie Activity Pin 2009–2010: Girls of all ages are eligible to earn the Girl Scout Cookie Activity Pin. Requirements change each year; the 2010 theme is “Smart Cookies in the Daisy Flower Garden” for Girl Scout Daisies and “Get Ready, Get Set, Get Connected!” for Girl Scout Brownies through Ambassadors. Activity packets for girls and guides for adults are available online at www.girlscouts.org.

500 Club & 1,000 Club

Girls may earn special recognition for achieving sales excellence. Girls who sell 500 or more packages will be invited to a recognition event (events vary by region) and become members of an elite club. Members who attend the event will be the first to see the 2011 Cookie Sale Program recognition line-up, vote on their favorite recognition items and have access to a secret/private Web page created just for them.

Girls who sell 500 or more packages will receive a certificate of achievement and achievement bar for their sash or vest. In addition, girls who sell 1,000 or more packages will be recognized as top sellers and receive a personalized crystal trophy.

2010 Cookie Club Banquets


Troop Profit

Troops of all grade levels will receive $0.45 for every package sold through March 21, 2010. Girls will earn the recognition items, Cookie Program Credit and Camp Credit.

In addition to the troop profit option listed above, Cadette, Senior and Ambassador troops have a second choice for troop profit:

  • The troop will receive $0.55 for each package sold through March 21, 2010.
  • Girls who sell less than 100 packages will NOT receive any recognition items other than the participation patch.
  • Girls who sell at least 100 packages will NOT receive any recognition items other than the participation patch and the pewter figure.
  • Girls who sell enough packages to qualify WILL earn the appropriate Capri College spa treatments.
  • Girls WILL earn Cookie Program Credit and Camp Credit.
  • Girls who meet the eligibility requirements for the Cookie Care/Cookie Share, Online Goal Setting and/or Cookie Booth program options WILL receive the corresponding patch(es).

Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors should discuss both options with their troop and make the choice that is best for their troop.

Online Marketing for Girls 13+

Online marketing during product sales is all about practicing safe ways for girls to be tech savvy and connect with customers during the Girl Scout Cookie Experience. Find out more...





Cookie Delivery

  • Cookies will be delivered to your service unit product manager Feb. 22 - Feb. 27, 2010. Y our service unit product manager will notify you of when and where to pick up y our troop order.
  • When picking up your order, count out the cases of each variety before you sign for them. Y ou will receive a copy of the signed receipt. The amount you sign for is y our responsibility. • Once you have the cookies, separate each girl’s order and make arrangements for each girl to pick up her cookies.
  • Each girl should count her order before leaving and have the parent/guardian sign for the cookies on a receipt. The amount they sign for is their responsibilit y.
  • Return the girl’s order cards with her money envelope and remind the parents/ guardians all money is due to the troop leader or troop cookie manager no later than March 22, 2010.

How Many Cases Will Fit?

Following are vehicle loading suggestions. The approximate amounts stated are figured with the vehicle empty, using all space available except the driver’s seat.

  • Compact Auto: 23 cases
  • Standard Auto: 40 cases
  • Sport Utility Vehicle: 60 cases
  • Mini Van: 60-100 cases
  • Standard Pickup Truck: 100 cases
  • Standard Van: 200 cases

Cookie Cupboards

Cookie Cupboards will be available February 27 – April 30. Each cupboard manager operates on his/her own schedule. Please make an appointment and respect their cupboard hours and procedures.

Cookie Cupboards provide cookies for:

  • Purchases made by troops and the general public. • Girl Scout Juliette orders on a consignment basis.
  • Cookie Booths. Troops wishing to earn additional profit may check out cookies from a Cookie Cupboard on a consignment basis.
  • Exchanges for damaged and empty packages can be made at NO CHARGE. Damaged or empty packages MUST be returned to the Cookie Cupboard manager at the time of the exchange.
  • Even exchanges of varieties with troops, when necessary.

Cookie Booths

Girls can learn what it’s like to run their own business! Through Cookie Booth Sales, girls learn the skills of marketing to their customers, entrepreneurship, money-handling and customer service. Set up a shop outside of a local business and let the fun begin! Girls earn a Cookie Booth patch for participating. Find out more, click here.




Cookie Mobiles

Cookie mobiles are utility trailers used for the purpose of selling Girl Scout Cookies at a Cookie Booth. The trailers come stocked with cookies, signs for advertising and plastic bags. All standard Cookie Booth procedures apply.

During the 2010 Cookie Sale Program, a cookie mobile will be available at the West Burlington and Cedar Rapids area service centers. For more information, to check availability or make your reservation (reservations taken on a first-come, first-served basis), please call the West Burlington Area Service Center at 319-752-3639 or the Cedar Rapids Area Service Center at 319-363-8335.

The following requirements apply to use of the cookie mobile:

  • Towing vehicle must have a standard 2” ball hitch
  • Driver must have a valid driver’s license
  • Driver must have proof of insurance
  • Pick-up on Thursday or Friday
  • Return the following Monday
