Leader's Day - April 22, 2010

Hey girls, here is your opportunity to tell your Girl Scout leader and the whole world what a difference she has made in your life. Think how much it would mean to your leader to read how important she has been to you PLUS you can win a prize for her just for telling us! We’re having a contest and we want to hear from girls all over the council! Don’t let your leader down ~ tell us all about what a great job she is doing. Here is what you need to do:

Submit a digital video, a letter/drawing or pictures telling:

  • What my leader means to me OR
  • The best thing my leader taught me OR
  • The difference my leader has made in my life

There will be 18 winning Girl Scout Leaders, chosen at random from the submissions; one winner per grade level, per category. All winners will receive gift certificates from a local restaurants to enjoy an
evening out with a guest.

Girls ‐ that means that the more submissions you make for your leader ~ the better the chance she has to win! So talk to the other girls in your troop and encourage them to send something in, too. All submissions will be posted online so that everyone can see how awesome YOUR leader is! Winners will be announced at Girls Go Global on April 24, 2010.

Leader's Day Contest Submissions

  1. I would like to tell you about my leader, Sandy Davison of Fairfield, Iowa. She is very nice, ooppsss, I probly shouldn't tell you yet, it will by in my video, so vote me and Sandy. I have been in Girl Scouts since first grade with my friend Autum. I hope I am one of the lucky girls because Sandy really needs to be known around the world. She is the best leader. SANDY ROX!!!

-Elizabeth H., Girl Scout Junior, Fairfield, Iowa

  2. My leader is Karen Cripe, and she has really made my life special. She has taught me a lot of things that I never knew about myself, and I would like to do something special for her. When I first moved here, she made me feel like this was home.

-Katherine W., Girl Scout Brownie, Mount Vernon, Iowa

  3. Check out over 50 videos from girls on the council's YouTube page.

  4. Troop 9212 lead by Leader - Lisa Roby, check out what her girls said.pdf

  5. My mother, Kristan Weiss has been my troop leader every since we found out what Girl Scouts is. That was in 1st grade, and I am now in 9th grade and just starting high school. My mom has taught me to speak up for what I believe in through Girl Scouts. She taught me how to teach little kids without getting frustrated, how to have fun and learn at the same time. If my mom hadn't become my girl scout leader, I would not be who I am right now. She taught me how to analyze a problem from all angles to find a solution that helps everyone in the situation. I volunteer at a Girl Scout camp every year and am usually helping little kids. The things my leader has taught, have helped in making sure the girls have fun but don’t break any rules. This is how my leader has influenced my life.

-Brittany K., Girl Scout Senior Troop 2349, Davenport, Iowa

  6. -Lona F., Girl Scout Daisy Troop 9001, Wayland, Iowa, for Girl Scout Leader Liz McAtee.

  7. My name is Olivia Z. and I would like to tell you about how my Girl Scout leader has made a difference. If I didn't have my Girl Scout leader, I probably wouldn't have the friends I have today. In Girl Scouts I can meet new friends that I usually wouldn't hang out with. My Girl Scout leader is Alison Andrews and I really like her, she is a great teacher, so that is why I am nominating her today. If she wasn't my Girl Scout leader I don't know what I would do.

-Olivia Z., Girl Scout Junior, West Branch, Iowa
